Gall Goes For Lincoln Loan Spell

Gall, made available on a free transfer by Cumbrians boss John Ward despite still having a year to run on his contract, moves to to League Two Lincoln for his temporary spell after turning down the offer of a two-year deal with League One Cheltenham. The 26-year old striker-cum-winger, leaving Carlisle having not made a first-team start at Brunton Park since last December.

There is no recall clause included in the loan spell for a player who has made 61 starts, 15 substitute appearances and scored 11 goals in his two years with United. The lack of a recall stipulation is little surprise given that Gall spent time on loan last season at Darlington, while also going for a trial at Toronto FC, where he surprisingly turned down a four-year deal.

Gall seems to be delighted with this move though, the Merthyr-born frontman telling the official City website :

"I'm really pleased that I chose Lincoln because having trained with the lads and looked around the facilities it's clear that this club is going places. I know the gaffer (Peter Jackson) has been monitoring me over the past month or two but I had a few offers and options so I had to make sure that my next move was the right one and I'm positive that joining Lincoln is.

"I don't really see it as pressure but as an exciting opportunity for me to prove myself. Although my main focus at the moment is to work myself into the side, in the long run I wouldn't rule out a permanent move to Lincoln but I have to prove to the gaffer that I'm worth it.

"It's been a frustrating time at Carlisle because I haven't figured in the manager's plans and when I have, I often found myself playing on the wing. That's just the way football goes sometimes but I've proven in the past that I can score goals and I'll be aiming to repeat what I did at Yeovil Town a few years ago."
