Whatever the situation it is a good opportunity for Glenn to get some first-team action under his belt, after only making ten starts, along with a mammoth 46 as a substitute, scoring just six goals along the way for the Blues. Murray has found first-team opportunities limited at Carlisle since joining the club in December 2004 from Barrow, following a successful trial period at Brunton Park, and even more so last season due to the flying form of Karl Hawley and Michael Bridges upfront.
As a local lad the 22-year old striker started his career at Workington AFC, then moving to Wilmington Hammerheads in the US after regularly hitting the back of the net with the Reds. His stay in the States didn't last long though and he moved back to Cumbria to join Barrow in October 2004, where he scored nine goals in nine games, before then United boss Paul Simpson decided to take him on trial at Brunton Park.
With Murray and Raphael Nade leaving the club on loan in the last two days it does leave Carlisle a little bit short of options upfront should we get any injuries. Hopefully new manager Neil McDonald has some irons in the fire that will see a new targetman coming into the club in the next couple of weeks.
