Managing director John Nixon steps down from role

The day-to-day running of Carlisle United Football Club is now in the hands of Finance Director Suzanne Kidd and Sales and Marketing Director Phil King as John Nixon steps down from his Managing Director role following almost ten years in the post at Brunton Park.

Mr Nixon, who announced his intention to step down at the beginning of May, will remain as one of the club’s joint owners and will stay on the board of CUFC Holdings, as Director of External Affairs, but will leave the running of the operational side of the business to the newly appointed team.

“I felt the time was right to do this after what has been a very challenging and rewarding period as the company’s managing director,” he said. “I will now concentrate on providing the club’s connection to the Football League and the FA and on spending some time with my family and grandchildren.

“I will continue to liaise between the first team manager and the operational side of the business, but the club is in good hands and I have already seen a whole host of new ideas begin to take shape, which can only be for the benefit of everyone connected with Carlisle United Football Club.

“The staff are extremely hardworking and loyal and I am sure they will support Suzanne and Phil as much as they have supported me over the course of the last ten years.”

Mr Nixon holds a position as a Football League representative on the FA Council, is a member of the board of the League Football Education and is chairman of the Football League Trust.
