The fee was set by a tribunal with the Hatters netting £150,000 initially plus £50,000 on his first team debut, a further £100,000 after 10, 20, 30 and 40 appearances, £200,000 in the event of an international appearance, and 15 per cent of any profit.
Worley spent time away from Stamford Bridge, after appearing regularly for the Chelsea reserve side, when he moved to Doncaster on loan in March last season, the 18-year old making ten starts for the Keepmoat Stadium outfit before returning to West London.
Whether his future remains in SW6 though is open to question after he spent a one-week trial spell at Charlton this summer. That period at the Valley being cut short after Worley was called up into the Chelsea FA Charity Shield squad, where he was an unused substitute, due to injury problems.
In what could be seen as a coup for the Cumbrians though Worley now moves up to Brunton Park for an initial one-month loan period. The 18-year old has apparently been brought in as cover in defence but with fellow centre-half Dan Kirkup moving to Clyde on a temporary basis until January it would seem there is still space to be had in the United back-line.
