Those are the details that have come out today as the eight clubs in both the northern and southern section to receive a bye in the first round have been named. Carlisle themselves unable to be given a bye due to the new rules introduced this season which say that a side getting a bye in the last campaign is not eligible to get one the following season.

The regional sections are further split into west and east and the Blues have been placed in the western group alongside Accrington Stanley, Bury, Crewe, Morecambe, Oldham, Stockport or Walsall, the latter club of those seven away obviously the draw that Carlisle will want to avoid from a travelling perspective.

That draw taking place on Sky's Soccer AM programme on the morning of Saturday 15th August with the games due to be played in the week commencing Monday 31st August. The rest of the group and bye details for the draw being as follows :

First Round Byes

Northern Section - Grimsby Town, Hartlepool United, Leeds United, Macclesfield Town, Notts County, Port Vale, Shrewsbury Town and Tranmere Rovers.

Southern Section - Aldershot Town, Brighton & Hove Albion, Charlton Athletic, Exeter City, Leyton Orient, Southampton, Southend United and Swindon Town.

First Round Draw Groupings

Northern Section - West

Accrington Stanley, Bury, Carlisle United, Crewe Alexandra, Morecambe, Oldham Athletic, Stockport County, Walsall.

Northern Section - East

Bradford City, Burton Albion, Chesterfield, Darlington, Huddersfield Town, Lincoln City, Rochdale, Rotherham United.

Southern Section - West
