Gary Madine
Despite only making one start and nine substitute appearances for Carlisle this season Gary has today moved up in the world by signing for Championship side Coventry City. Sky Blues boss Chris Coleman commenting to his club's official website on the move :

"Gary is not the finished article but we believe there is the potential there for him to have a good future in the game. We wanted to have a good look at him, and him to have a good look at us and this is the perfect chance to do that."

After coming through the youth ranks and signing a three-year professional deal in March 2008 the Gateshead-born striker has pretty much been a permanent fixture on the bench at Brunton Park. Madine making just five starts, along with a remarkable 37 substitute appearances, and scoring five goals for Carlisle to date.

The 19-year old also spent a spell on loan at League Two side Rochdale last season where he was once more confined to the bench though, the 6'4 frontman starting just once and making two substitute appearances in a one-month spell at Spotland.

Chris Coleman obviously sees something he likes in Madine however and Gary now joins Coventry for three months with a view to a permanent deal if he impresses in his time at the RICOH Arena, starting with a Championship fixture at Cardiff City tomorrow evening. Gary though will not be allowed to play for City in the FA Cup, and there is a recall clause after the first month of the loan spell is over.
