"Muzza" was expected to play a part in United's end-of-season title campaigns, for both the reserve and first-teams. Horrendous registration wrangles between the two clubs and the Portugese FA though have ensured that Murray has had to remain highly frustrated as he sits on the sidelines looking on. Those problems will hopefully be sorted out in the summer however, ensuring the midfielder can play for the Blues when their League One pre-season training starts in early July.
On the contract extension, Carlisle boss Paul Simpson told the News and Star :
"The contract we already had in place with Paul had a couple of provisos to activate a year's extension – we had to get promotion and he needed to make a certain number of appearances.
"But because of the problems we've had getting his registration this season, he hasn't been able to play. So we have ripped that contract up and he has now signed a new contract, which starts in July. Beira-Mar are saying they will release his registration after their final game of the season on May 7, so we're hoping it will all be through so he can play for us once training starts in July. From what I have seeen so far, he is going to be a tremendous signing for us."
