Tomorrow's top-of-the-table clash between second-placed Carlisle and leaders Swansea has been postponed because of a frozen pitch. Plummeting temperatures in Cumbria have forced Brunton Park groundstaff to abandon any hope of having the pitch in a playable condition for the scheduled 3pm kick-off.
United Managing Director John Nixon commented on the disappointing postponement of the game :
"We tried to apply heat, using industrial heaters. But the frost has bitten deep - and there are still areas of the pitch that are very, very hard underfoot."
