Lee Andrews waits to take a throw-in last season
Following the huge disappointment of being knocked out of all three major cup competitions as early as mid-November the Blues only have the Cumberland Cup to fall back on now to put any gloss at all on a wretched knockout season. Cleator Moor are having a poor campaign themselves however as they currently sit fourth bottom in the Wearside League, currently headed by Whitehaven, with only two wins from ten games, Celtic like United having received a bye to this stage of the County competition.

Last year the Blues went out at the quarter-final stage when they lost 2-1 after extra-time to eventual final losers Carlisle City, the match played on a freezing cold early-March Saturday lunchtime at Newton Rigg, Penrith. United were short on numbers that day though in an eventful 18 hours for the club, the first-team having won 3-0 at Northampton Town the night before, while the youth-team were beating Burnley 2-1 down at Frenchfields at the same time as the Cumberland Cup match.
