After defeating Celtic Nation 2-1 away in round one, the Blues now face another team who had to play at that seven match opening stage, with Longtown beating Langwathby United 1-0 at home in their match. The draw for the second round seeing the 25 teams who got a bye through to that stage enter the fray with Carlisle the second last club out of the hat in an afternoon draw yesterday when more minds were focused on Tottenham.
As for Longtown's Saturday side, they reached the quarter-finals of the competition last season before going down 5-2 away to Mirehouse, while in the current campaign they are at the moment sitting eighth of twelve teams in the Tesco Cumberland Premier League, with a record of two wins a draw and two defeats. Goals being hard to come by though as defender Ross Martin is their present top scorer with just two goals.
Elsewhere in the draw meanwhile there is a local derby in Workington with the Reds drawn away to Red House, while Harraby Catholic Club (now known as Harraby United), who Carlisle defeated 2-1 in last season's final, have a trip to the seaside on the cards as they will take on Silloth. The scheduled Saturday date for those home teams without floodlights being the 13th of October, while United's probable midweek date for their round two match has yet to be confirmed.
