Bristol-born Anyinsah made his Football League debut for the Robins as a substitute back on the opening day of the 2004-05 season in a 1-1 home draw with Torquay. Joe spending a month on loan at Edgar Street for Hereford United later in the campaign as he found first-team opportunities limited at Ashton Gate.
Having been with City since the age of nine, Anyinsah in his own words decided it was time for a change as he moved to Deepdale as an out-of-contract free agent in July 2005. Joe has struggled with injuries though since making the journey north, having only made eight substitute appearances in just over two years with North End.
The young winger making another loan move, this time to Bury, in February 2006, where he made three starts only for his spell at Gigg Lane to be curtailed by injury once more. Bury were apparently interested again in taking Joe for a temporary move, but Carlisle have beaten them to it as Preston boss Paul Simpson looks to give Anyinsah some first-team football.
With United caretaker manager Greg Abbott signing the 22-year old for a month, it could clear up, for a temporary spell at least, one of Carlisle's problem positions in the side. A lack of a proper right-winger at the club having been apparent for at least a season now with numerous players employed in that spot, Saturday's line-up at home to Bristol Rovers should certainly be an interesting one now.
