For such a youthful player Dalton has impressed in both pre-season friendlies to date, with pacey wing performances in the wins at Barrow and Morecambe. Blues boss Neil McDonald has obviously seen enough from Dalton as well to want to sign him on quickly on a two-year deal, especially with the 17-year old having attracted interest from Liverpool, Blackburn Rovers, Leicester City and Sheffield United since making his bow at the McCain Stadium.
On his move to Brunton Park Driffield-based Dallton told the Scarborough Evening News :
"There was interest from a few teams last season and I actually spent a week training with Blackburn Rovers which was fantastic. When Boro folded I was absolutely gutted but was confident I could find a new club and Mitch Cook helped me out in sorting an opportunity with Carlisle.
"I have been training with the club a few weeks now and played in a couple of pre-season friendlies so now it is just a case of sorting out a contract. Carlisle are a club going places and they got promoted last season. There is a very good set-up here and the manager has been great with me.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for me and I just want to get my head down and work hard and learn from the other professionals around me. I will always be very grateful to Boro because had it not been for them I might not be where I am today. I see they have started up a new side and I hope they can do well for the great fans in the town."
