Anyway, onto the action, Carlisle took the lead early on through Luke Joyce after some slack defending in the Stanley ranks, the home side then quickly equalising after equally poor work in the back-line by the Blues. The goals kept coming though and United retook the lead through a Danny Carlton strike. Stanley pulling themselves level once more though with a goal right on the stroke of half-time.
Carlton, Shaun Vipond, and Stephen Hindmarch all going close for Carlisle before the Reds took the lead for the first time in the match. Stanley then making sure of all three points when they made it 4-2 in the 88th minute with a deflected shot. The night getting worse for the Blues in injury time when Vipond was red-carded for a bad tackle on Accrington's Bobby Grant.
So two defeats in a row now for the Carlisle second-string, while scoring doesn't seem to be a problem stopping the goals going in at the other end certainly seems to be. Things won't get much easier in the next reserve outing either as United face a free-scoring Preston North End outfit at Brunton Park on Wednesday 24th October in a 7pm kick-off.
