In their second announced friendly of the season Eric Kinder returned to his old stomping ground of Blackburn Rovers with a Carlisle side that containted the usual mixture of youth team players and out of favour professionals. The Blues line-up though once more containing trialist Alex Fisher, the former Oxford United striker looking to continue his goalscoring form after netting twice in Carlisle's 2-0 reserve team win at Gateshead last week.
With their strong Premier League second string side on show the home side took the lead in the first half, and then doubled that advantage after the break despite an excellent performance in goal from young Blues stopper Mark Gillespie. Carlisle did manage to get what would only prove to be a consolation goal though, despite some late pressure as they searched for an equaliser, and it was that man Fisher again when he headed home from an Andy Welsh cross.
