The 1-0 home win for Rovers over Rochdale in match played at Rivacre Park, the home of Vauxhall Motors FC, sees the Whites extend their lead to four points over second-placed Oldham, although the Latics do have a game in hand over the Wirral outfit. The only goal of the game couldn't have come much earlier as Craig Curran volleyed home in the second minute to grab the victory for Tranmere.

Oldham meanwhile could only draw 1-1 at home to fourth-placed Blackpool on Wednesday afternoon at Boundary Park. Both goals were scored late on and within two minutes of each other as the Latics took the lead in the 79th minute through trialist striker Kris Watt, only for the Seasiders to equalise just two minutes later when Everton trialist forward Dan Hoogerwerf netted.

Chester managed to claim only their second win of the season as they defeated Accrington 2-1 at home at the Deva Stadium. Stanley took the lead in the fourth minute through Benin international midfielder Romauld Boco only for the home side to level just sixty seconds later as Chris Holroyd equalised. City's young striker bagging a brace and all three points for the Blues in the 79th minute when he converted a penalty awarded for a foul on him by Reds midfielder Sean Doherty.

Bury's scheduled match at home to Preston was called off due to a waterlogged pitch, while Carlisle still have another two weeks to wait for their next game as that comes on Wednesday the 24th of January when the Blues travel down to Dark Lane, the home of Rossendale United, to take on Rochdale in an away fixture.
