Blackpool leapfrogged Oldham to go second in the table as they defeated Rochdale 2-1 in a match played at Highbury, the home of Fleetwood Town. Striker Dax Hoogerwerf, who is on work experience at Bloomfield Road from Everton, scored twice for the Seasiders in the opening ten minutes to quickly put the 'Dale behind the eight ball. Clive Moyo-Modise did pull back a goal for the visitors after the break, but despite Rochdale having the better of the play late on Blackpool grimly hung on for all three points.

Oldham's first defeat of their reserve league campaign cost them that second place in the table as they surprisingly went down 2-0 at Accrington Stanley. Two mistakes from trialist Latics keeper Ashley Timms, who is currently at Barrow in the Conference North, killed off the visitors when the 21-year old missed his kick on a backpass in the 26th minute, that allowing Jay Harris to nip and score for Stanley. Then five minutes before the break Timms fumbled out a shot from Phil Edwards straight back to the Accrington man who gleefully knocked home the rebound.

Wrexham moved level on points with Carlisle and relegated Chester to the wooden spoon spot in the table as they won the mini-derby against City 1-0 at the Deva Stadium on Wednesday night. Andy Fleming scored the only goal of the game for the Red Dragons bang on the hour-mark, but their win will have been slightly tempered by the sight of trainee striker Alex Darlington being stretchered off in the last minute with a suspected broken leg. United finally get back to action after a near two-month break when they face Blackpool at Brunton Park next Wednesday afternoon in a 2pm kick-off.
