Oldham sneaked into top spot at the head of the division, although they will have been disappointed to only claim one point from a 2-2 draw at home to Manchester City after letting a two-goal led slip late on. In a match played at Bower Fold, Stalybridge to try and preserve the Boundary Park playing surface the Latics were 2-0 up on 71 minutes thanks to goals from Matty Wolfenden and Deane Smalley only for the Citizens to grab a share of the spoils with goals from Vladimir Weiss after 73 minutes and Jarvan Vidal with just four minutes to go.

Accrington moved above Tranmere and into second in the table courtesy of a 3-1 home win over lowly Wrexham. The Red Dragons had taken the lead though almost straight from the kick-off through Jamie Reed only for Stanley to equalise on 13 minutes thanks to a goal from Stuart Fleetwood. The Hereford-loanee bagged his second of the night 12 minutes later while Andy Mangan sealed all three points for the home side with fourteen minutes to go.

As we know, United's return to second-string action, after almost a ten week lay-off, could hardly have been much worse as the Blues were thumped 6-0 away to Preston North End. The Cumbrians are home to Harraby Catholic Club in the Cumberland Cup quarter-finals this coming Tuesday night with their next Pontin's League game coming at home to table-topping Oldham on Wednesday the 7th of March in a 2pm kick-off at Brunton Park.
