Apart from Carlisle the only other match being played was rock-bottom Rochdale defeating Tranmere 3-0 at home in a game that took place at Dark Lane, Rossendale United FC. 'Dale trialist Martin Donnelly, who is currently at Sheffield United, opened the scoring in the tenth minute, with Ben Wharton then bagging a brace, including one from the penalty spot, after 24 and 44 minutes as all the goals in the game came in the first-half.

As we already know United defeated Wrexham at home on Wednesday afternoon in an eight-goal thriller. The goals for the Blues in their 5-3 win coming from a Kevin Gall hat-trick, Danny Carlton and Shaun Vipond, while Mike Carvill, Jamie Reed and Andy Fleming scored for Wrexham. Carlisle's next second-string game comes in less than four days time when they travel to Chester's Deva Stadium for a 2pm kick-off on Monday afternoon.
