Games are being played thick and fast now as teams try to cram in all their postponed matches before the end of the season. Morecambe made the most of it though with two wins to secure top spot in the division. The Shrimps kicking off the week with a 2-1 victory at home to Chester, thanks to goals from Damien Allen on 13 minutes and Neil Sorvel five minutes before the break, with City's last minute consolation strike coming from Lloyd Ellams.

Morecambe then clinching the three points that won them the title at Accrington Stanley's Fraser Eagle Stadium on Wednesday evening with a 1-0 victory away to Burnley, the only goal of the game being scored by Aaron Taylor in the 85th minute. The Shrimps now have a chance to make it a memorable double in their first season at this second-string level when they face West Brom at home in the League Cup final on Monday night.

Burnley were the ones really having to do it the hard way this week as, fresh from that defeat last night, they then drew 0-0 tonight at the Inn2gether Stadium, Radcliffe Borough FC, away to Bury. That coming after their youth team had already played last Saturday in the league and then on Monday in a Lancashire FA Youth Cup semi-final, hectic times indeed for the Clarets youngsters as they at least have a day off tomorrow before returning to league action on Saturday morning.

Sandwiched either side of Burnley in the reserve league are Blackpool and Tranmere and it was Rovers who won the battle of those two sides when they won 2-1 away to the Seasiders, in a match played at Highbury, the home of Fleetwood Town FC. Mike Jones and Ash Taylor scoring both Tranmere goals in the first-half.

Finally comes the mini-derby between Wrexham and Chester, and the Red Dragons, playing "at home" at Globe Way, Buckley Town FC, won 2-1 to claim their seventh victory in their last eight and fifth in a row. The Welshmen must be wishing their first team were as good but their goals last night came from Silvio Spann on 24 minutes and Michael Proctor eight minutes later. Chester losing out 2-1 for the second time in three days after Paul Smith netted six minutes into the second-half.

As we already know, Carlisle were out of action in the league this week as the Cumberland Cup final against Penrith Town had to be wedged into busy schedule, United winning that competition 2-0 last night thanks to a Gary Madine brace. Carlisle do get back to action next week though when they finish the season with two home fixtures, firstly against Burnley on Wednesday evening and then versus Bury the following Monday afternoon.
