Burnley and Tranmere are in second and third respectively on four points after sharing six goals at Prenton Park. The Clarets had gone 3-0 up after 50 minutes through Remco van Der Schaaf and a header and a spot-kick from Jay Rodriguez. Rovers didn't give up though and a Terry Gornell hat-trick, two goals of which came from the penalty spot, ensured that honours finished even in an entertaining encounter.
A young Rochdale side had an excellent 4-1 victory at home to Preston in a match played at Dark Lane, Rossendale United. Will Buckley and Lee Thorpe putting the 'Dale 2-0 up at the break before Thorpe made it 3-0 early in the second-half. North End pulled a goal back thanks to a Scott Davidson penalty but it was Rochdale who had the last word when Kallum Higginbotham netted with eight minutes to go.
The final game on in the division saw Bury win 1-0 at home to Blackpool in a game at Stainton Park, Radcliffe Borough, with Richie Baker scoring the only goal of the afternoon for the Shakers. As we already know Carlisle's scheduled match at Accrington Stanley on Wednesday was called off due to United's long trip to QPR in the Carling Cup the previous night, the next game for the Blues second-string coming next Wednesday afternoon when they travel to Hartlepool for a Group One Central League Cup tie.
