Meanwhile Bury, who play in Carlisle's division, lost 2-0 at home to Manchester United in a Manchester Senior Cup tie, the goals for the Red Devils scored by Magnus Eikrem and James Derbyshire.
As we already know United won their League Cup Group One tie 4-1 at Hartlepool, the Carlisle goals coming from Luke Joyce, Michael Bridges, Gary Madine and Grant Smith while Michael Mackay replied for the home side. United's next second string match comes next Wednesday evening away to Morecambe when they return to league action in a 7pm kick-off at Christie Park.
