The only game played in the division since Christmas being Bury beating Manchester City 3-2 at home, the fixture taking place at Stainton Park, Radcliffe Borough FC. An Ian Daly penalty giving the visitors a 20th minute lead before Jack Dorney levelled just three minutes later.
Dorney with a spot-kick then gave the Shakers the lead shortly before the break, only for the Citizens to equalise on 54 minutes through a Karl Moore free-kick. Bury had the last word though when David Thompson scored the winning goal five minutes from time.
In Group Four of the league cup Morecambe defeated Tranmere 5-3 in a busy match at Christie Park. Aaron Taylor (3), Michael Twiss and Fraser McLachlan scoring for the home side while Louis Corrigan, Charlie Barnett and Luke Waterfall netted for the visitors. Rovers throwing away all three points having been 3-2 up with just 20 minutes to go.
The other game on in Group Four saw Accrington Stanley win 1-0 at Rochdale in a tight encounter played at Dark Lane, the home of Rossendale United FC. Michael Payne scoring the only goal of the match for the visitors early on in proceedings, the 'Dale then squandering a chance to equalise when Joe Reidy missed a penalty.
As we already know Carlisle ended their league cup campaign with an excellent 3-0 win away to Sheffield United, the goals coming from Gary Madine (2) and Kevin Gall. Next week the Blues second-string are back in league action when they take on Morecambe in a 7pm kick-off at Brunton Park on Monday night.
