Blackpool have played the most games in the division and they are now up to fourth after defeating Rochdale 4-2 at home. The returning Brett Ormerod scoring for the Seasiders early on before Claus Jorgensen, and then Ormerod again, netted twice in the last ten minutes before half-time to give the home side a comfy 3-0 lead at the break.
The game then went through a quiet spell before Rochdale made it 3-1 on 77 minutes through Daniel Neary, Andrew Brown then setting up an exciting finish to the match when he made it 3-2 six minutes later. Former Carlisle loanee Stuart Green put the dampeners on that though when he scored very late on to seal all three points and a 4-2 win for Blackpool.
Remarkably it is now mid-February and Burnley have only played seven league games, their scheduled home fixture last night having been waterlogged off. That now leaving the Clarets with a bumper 11 reserve matches, 13 youth games and the Lancashire FA Youth Cup to play in with just two and a half months of the season left. Bury another side out of action yesterday as their match at home to Preston was frozen off.
As we already know Carlisle won 1-0 at Tranmere, thanks to a 70th minute Gavin Rothery strike, to move back into pole position in the division. Next week sees a top of the table clash as Manchester City, two points behind United but with two games in hand, visit Cumbria to take on Carlisle in a 2pm kick-off on Monday afternoon at Brunton Park, that being the only fixture taking place throughout the division.
