Burnley stay at the the top of the table after losing one and winning one of their two games played in 24 hours this week. The Clarets first going down 2-1 at Morecambe on Wednesday evening, Wes Fletcher having put the visitors ahead from the penalty spot in the opening period before Aaron Taylor bagged a brace after the interval to ensure that all three points went the way of the Shrimps.

They did hold on to their lead for a victory the following night when they defeated Accrington 2-0 at Stanley's Fraser Eagle Stadium, although with that being Burnley's home ground at reserve level Accrington were actually the visitors. The Clarets getting both their goals in the first-half through Kevin McDonald and 42-year old manager Owen Coyle.

Manchester City are second in the division but they lost heavily 4-1 at home to Blackpool this week. The Seasiders, at the Regional Athletics Arena, 4-0 up by the hour-mark as Stuart Green bagged a hat-trick, one of which came from the penalty spot, and Louis Almond netted. Jack Redshaw's late goal for the Citizens therefore being no more than a consolation strike.

Preston are moving slowly up the table on the back of a five match unbeaten run and they drew 1-1 at Prenton Park against Tranmere on Wednesday afternoon. Rovers taking the lead through Chris Curran as early as the second minute before Scott Davidson finally equalised for North End with 70 minutes on the clock.

As we already know Carlisle, in third, lost their second away game on the bounce, this time 2-1 at Bury in a match played at Stainton Park, Radcliffe Borough FC, United having gone 1-0 up thanks to Gavin Rothery. The Blues second-string are all shook up next week too when they play their final game of the season at home to Bury in a 2pm kick-off on Monday afternoon at Brunton Park.
