United started brightly but a Bury keeper on good form ensured that the scoreline remained 0-0 going into the interval. The Cumbrians played some nice stuff in the second-half too and they finally made the breakthrough in the 80th minute when Dalton's cross into the Shakers box took a wicked deflection as it flew past the wrong-footed Bury custodian on the way into the back of the net.
Five minutes later and the Blues all but clinched the victory when a trademark good delivery in from a Connor Tinnion corner saw Cook head home for his sixth goal of the season. Cook's strike-partner Gary Madine having hit the Bury crossbar with his own headed effort earlier on in the match.
The excellent win now leaves Carlisle five points off the top of the table and in the "ifs and buts column" they could have been top had it not been for late equalisers conceded against Accrington Stanley and Bury themselves at home. Still, no-one can complain about the way the lads are playing at the moment and long may it continue.
