Carlisle couldn't have started the match off any better as they looked for their second win of the season. The Cumbrians taking the lead almost straight from the kick-off when Gary Madine headed home from a Connor Tinnion corner. Stephen Hindmarch missing out on a good one-on-one opportunity later in the half as United went into the break one goal to the good.

Oldham haven't been youth team champions for the last two seasons running for nothing though and they equalised shortly after the interval. Blues goalkeeper Grant Carson failing to hold onto a Nathan Kilcourse cross which meant that Ben Lysons was able to smack the ball into the back of the Carlisle net to level matters in the match.

Things got worse for the Cumbrians shortly afterwards when the Latics finished their comeback by taking the lead. Ross Thaker thumping home a 20-yard drive after hesistant defending in the United ranks. That was the final goal of the game and Carlisle's next chance of success comes in seven days time, again on the road, at Blackpool this coming Saturday morning.
