United then quickly took the lead only four minutes later when Matt Duffy sent in an excellent cross from the left which Cook was able to head powerfully into the back of the Rochdale net. The Blues striker grabbing his hat-trick after 52 minutes when, after being put through the middle by a Liam Davison pass, he fired home a well-placed shot.
The last goal of the game coming as early as the 57th minute when Cook could have made it seven goals for the season as he made an excellent run forward. Carlisle's top scorer was unselfish though as he laid the ball off to his strike-partner Ryan Bowman for a thumping finish to make the final score 4-1.
The match saw Northern Ireland schoolboy international, and recent signing from Linfield, Jamie Cleary make his Carlisle debut at centre-half for the final 30 minutes. Striker Chris McDougall meanwhile made his first league appearance in United colours when he replaced Bowman midway through the second-half. The next fixture for the seventh-placed young Blues coming on Friday lunchtime when they make the trip to bottom of the table Accrington Stanley.
