After a relatively quiet first half in which United top scorer Andy Cook hit the Saddlers crossbar with a 20-yard strike, Carlisle took the lead after the break when Conor Tinnion fired home a left-footed drive, which the Walsall goalkeeper could perhaps have done better with.
The young Blues then going 2-0 up with just over 20 minutes to go as Ryan Bowman got himself on the scoresheet. Tinnion then grabbing his second goal of the match after 78 minutes when, like his first effort, he cut in from the right and smacked a shot into the back of the home net.
Cook also hitting the post, Tinnion failing to take a one-on-one chance for his hat-trick and substitute Chris McDougall sending a header narrowly wide being chances Carlisle had to win the game by an even greater margin than their excellent 3-0 win. The injury front news getting much better too with McDougall, James Wood and Mark Gillespie all back and raring to go, that just leaving Matt Duffy (ankle) out on the sidelines.
Some of United's fixtures have taken a shift around this week and the lads are now at home in their next three games, those being this coming Saturday against Wigan, the following Saturday against Chester and then quickly back in action two days later when they play their postponed fixture from last week, that being the Tranmere match that will now take place on Monday 2nd March at 12noon.
