A bitty first-half of very few chances saw the sides go into the break at 0-0. Better was to come for the Cumbrians early in the second-half though as a clever pass through from Andy Hardman allowed Gary Madine to race on and slot the ball home past the Wigan keeper to put United one goal to the good.
Things soon got tougher for the Blues though as Grant Carson was sent off for throwing the ball at a Latics player after a bout of handbags, that meaning right-back Matthew Brown had to take over between the sticks. Brown did well in his new position but was powerless to stop a late leveller for the home side which meant the match finished all-square at 1-1.
United line-up unavailable.
