Wrexham Away In FA Youth Cup

The big prize
Wrexham play in the same division as Carlisle although with the league split and regionalised they are in Group B this season and the Blues are in Group A. The sides will only meet once this campaign due to that divisional structure and that game came six weeks when the two clubs fought out a 1-1 draw at Frenchfields, the match report for which can be read here.

The Red Dragons have an almost identical record to the Cumbrians so far having won two, drawn two and lost three of their seven games to date, that compared to Carlisle's run of two wins, two draws and four defeats from their seven matches so far. The goal differences of the two clubs are extremely similar as well with Wrexham's standing at minus eight and United's at minus seven, so it certainly promises to be a close match at the Racecourse.

Last season Carlisle had a fantastic run in the FA Youth Cup as they got the furthest they have ever got in the competition, the Blues eventually losing out to eventual winners Liverpool 6-0 in the quarter-final having beaten Macclesfield 3-1, Doncaster 5-3 on penalties, Chipstead 5-1, Huddersfield 2-1 and Sheffield United 2-0 along the way. The draw hasn't been as kind to the Cumbrians as it was last year though as United amazingly played their first five ties at Brunton Park before bagging the plum tie of Liverpool away.
