The 17-year old must certainly have impressed the United coaching staff earlier in the year though, as he has recently been forced to sit out a mind boggling nine-match suspension after a sending-off at Netherhall that ended his season way back at the end of March. Dan now having an extra 12 months at Brunton Park to impress as he looks to kick off his professional career in the game.
Sadly, good news for Goose means bad news for three other second-year YTS players at Brunton Park. Matthew Brown (right-back), Matthew Wood (central midfielder) and, most surprisingly perhaps, Stephen Hindmarch (midfielder/striker) being the unlucky lads to miss out as they now face being released by the club at the end of their contract.
Thanks for all your hard work and efforts at Carlisle United to all three lads from everyone at CUFC Online and we wish them the very best of luck for the future.
The wheel never stops turning though at Brunton Park and nine players in turn now move up to the second year of their YTS contract next season, Gary Madine already having disappeared from that level to a professional contract earlier this season.
Those nine being Tom Aldred (centre-half), Jonny Blake (central midfield), Andy Cook (centre forward), Michael Dowson (central midfield), Matt Duffy (left-back), Simon Lakeland (central midfield), Alex Mitchell (goalkeeper), John Seaton (right wing) and Connor Tinnion (left wing).
Meanwhile starting their first YTS year at Brunton Park next season will be six new boys, two of those coming from the under-16 ranks in Sean Law (central midfield) and Ryan Bowman (striker). As well as four others from further afield in James Wood (right-back), Liam Davison (central midfield), Mark Gillespie (goalkeeper) and Adam Jukes (centre-half).
