Youth Team League Weekend Update

Last updated : 13 December 2007 By Thetashkentterror
Somewhat unsurprisingly given the dreadful weather this week only three games went ahead at the weekend. One of those teams involved was second-placed Wigan, and their 1-0 defeat at Chester was an excellent result for Carlisle as it means the Blues now sit four points behind the Latics with two games in hand.

Down in the mid-table and lower reaches Stockport won 2-1 at home to Port Vale while Shrewsbury continued their shocking run of form, the Salopians losing 4-1 at home to Tranmere. Shrewsbury now having lost ten of their fourteen league matches, six of those in a row recently while conceding a dire 27 goals in the process.

For the second week in a row United's scheduled game, this time at Morecambe, fell foul of the weather. The young Blues are next in action at home to Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Youth Cup third round at Brunton Park in a 7pm kick-off. The next league fixture comes on Saturday morning at home to Burnley, the match being played at Gillford Park FC in an 11am kick-off.
