United had been lucky enough to stay in third place in the table in the last fortnight despite not playing but this week they finally dropped to fifth after Blackpool's big 5-1 win at Oldham and Walsall's 1-0 victory at Stockport that saw those sides move up into third and fourth spots respectively.
Chester are slowly moving up the table, and they, like Shrewsbury, who they defeated 2-0 at home, are the only teams in the division not to have had a game postponed so far this season. The final game played saw Macclesfield win 2-1 away to a Wrexham side who are sliding down the table alarmingly after a good start.
With the Christmas break coming up only two fixtures take place next Saturday morning with the four clubs taking advantage of a blank week in the schedule to catch up on earlier matches called off. United are, hopefully, back in action on Saturday 5th January at home to Chester, the young Blues now finding themselves in a position where any more postponements will greatly hamper a title challenge.
