Next come surprise package Rochdale who have won two of their first three games, one against Carlisle, their latest victory being a 4-0 triumph on the road at Bury. Apart from Preston and Wigan two other teams have 100% records, the pair being Tranmere and Stockport who had respective 2-1 and 1-0 wins at home to Port Vale and away to Wrexham.
Burnley finished as runners-up to Wrexham last season but they have lost two out of two so far this time around, the Clarets this week going down 4-3 at home to Blackpool on Friday. Two other games in the division seeing Macclesfield crunch Chester 5-1 at home and Walsall taste victory by the odd goal in five on home soil against Shrewsbury.
As we already know Carlisle picked up their first win of the season as they defeated Oldham 4-1 at home, Ryan Bowman 2, Mark Sloan and Matt Osmond scoring the United goals while Tom Eaves replied for the Latics. Next Saturday the young Blues have it all on though as they face a trip to table-topping Preston in a 10.30am kick-off.
