Youth Team League Weekend Update

Last updated : 21 November 2009 By Thetashkentterror
With the recent heavy rain around the region it certainly wasn't surprising to see four games waterlogged off. What was surprising though was that one match played was at perennial postponers Accrington. Getting their fixture on didn't do the bottom club any favours though as they lost 3-0 against Bury. Second-bottom Blackpool meanwhile switching their game to Oldham to get it on, although they lost too, the Latics running out 2-0 winners.

Up at the top end of the table Walsall defeated Wrexham 3-2 at home to move level with Preston on points, North End though remaining top on goal difference. Wigan got their match on but they lost 3-1 against Wrexham, that only their second league defeat of the season, while finally in the lower mid-table reaches Chester drew 1-1 at home to Port Vale.

Carlisle's scheduled match at Stockport was called off on Friday but that will at least have given the lads a rest ahead of their tough looking match at York City in the FA Youth Cup on Wednesday evening. Two and a bit days after that game and the young Blues return to league action, weather permitting, when they make the trip down the coast to take on struggling Blackpool.
