Into league action and second placed Walsall lost 3-1 at a Stockport side who are riding high in fourth, while third played fifth at Shrewsbury as Town defeated Wigan 1-0 at home. Meanwhile Burnley remain in sixth afer they fought out an entertaining 3-3 draw at Blackpool, and staying on the Lancashire coastline Morecambe drew 1-1 at home to Macclesfield.
Finally further down the division crisis club Chester City lost 2-0 at home to Tranmere on Friday and Wrexham picked up a point in a 2-2 draw at Port Vale on Saturday. As we already know, Carlisle lost 4-3 away to Oldham after a five week lay off for the Cumbrians, Ryan Bowman with a brace and then Steven Swinglehurst with a single strike grabbing the United goals. Next week the young Blues have a tough task on as they face table-topping Preston at home in an 11am kick-off at Creighton Rugby Club.
