Elsewhere in the division there were two away wins as Oldham tasted victory 3-1 at Accrington Stanley and Tranmere took all three points with a 2-1 success at Macclesfield. As for the northern section of the League Cup, both Stockport and Shrewsbury are riding high in the league and they both made it through to the semi-finals with 2-1 away wins at Bury and Chesterfield respectively.
And it is Stockport that a struggling Carlisle side will play next Saturday morning in an 11am kick-off at Creighton Rugby Club, United hoping to snap a three game losing streak against County. Morecambe and Accrington Stanley meanwhile both playing two matches this week as they look to make a dent in their fixture backlogs.
