It's nearly all over for the season now with just one league game left to be played. As for the matches played over the weekend Rochdale cemented their excellent final second place in the table with a 2-1 win at Macclesfield while Wrexham ended the campaign in 11th following a tight 1-0 victory away to Morecambe.
On Saturday morning Wigan picked up a point in a 1-1 draw at Burnley, but today they were well beaten 4-1 by Carlisle on Cumbrian turf, Dan Jones with a brace, Manny Richardson and David Symington being the United scorers. That win for the young Blues coming three days after defeating title-winners Preston 1-0 at home, a Phil Towler header from a Matt Osmond corner sealing all three points for Carlisle in that game.
Macclesfield may have played Rochdale at home on Saturday but they do it again this coming Saturday to end the youth league season, that being the case due to the vagaries of the youth league which say that one team must face another one at home twice during the campaign. The Youth League Cup final also taking place this week as QPR take on Stockport on Thursday evening in a 7pm kick-off at Loftus Road.
