Port Vale top the table now on goal difference after winning 4-2 at home to Stockport to make it two wins from two at the start of their season. Two other sides still with 100% records from their opening brace of games being Blackpool who surprisingly defeated last year's title winners Preston 2-0 at home, and Shrewsbury who won 1-0 at Tranmere.
In fourth meanwhile are Walsall who drew 1-1 at home to Wrexham, Burnley then making up the top five after they won their opening match of the campaign, and in some style, 7-0 on their own turf against Accrington Stanley. The Clarets not playing last week as they were the odd one out in a 17 team division now that Chester City no longer exist.
Elsewhere in the league Wigan picked up their first point in a 1-1 draw at Macclesfield, and Rochdale keep among the goals as, after losing 5-2 against Blackpool last week, they won on Saturday 4-1 at Morecambe. The last game being played being Carlisle's 0-0 draw at home to Bury, the young Blues still looking for their first goal of the season next weekend when they make the trip to Rochdale.
