Blackpool continue their remarkable start to the season as they made it seven wins from seven with a 2-1 win at Bury, their gap over second placed Rochdale now up to four points as the 'Dale's scheduled match at Oldham was postponed due to the Latics being on FA Youth Cup duty. Port Vale now making up the top three in the table as they tasted victory 2-0 at Walsall.
Burnley are up to fourth after they won 3-1 at Carlisle, the United goal coming as early as the sixth minute when Ed Williams smacked a volley into his own net. With Oldham out of action, Wigan are the last club in the top six as they won 3-0 at Stockport, while into the lower mid-table reaches Macclesfield picked up three points through a 3-2 victory at Tranmere.
Preston are having a terrible season after winning the title last year and they remain the wooden spoon holders after losing 4-2 at Accrington Stanley for their sixth defeat in seven games, while the only draw in the division this week came in North Wales as Wrexham and Shrewsbury fought out a 0-0 stalemate.
Next week Carlisle continue to look for their first win of the campaign, at the ninth attempt, as they face Accrington Stanley at home in an 11am kick-off at Creighton Rugby Club. Rochdale the side this Saturday having a week off in a 17-team division which finds Blackpool versus Oldham as the game of the day.
