Preston moved up to the top of the table this weekend with a 3-1 home win over former league leaders Burnley, while previously 100% Bury also dropped off the pace after going down 1-0 at home to Oldham. Infact Tranmere are now second in the table following a good 3-0 win in North Wales at Wrexham while in fourth Walsall are the only 100%-ers left, with three wins out of three after they defeated bottom placed Wigan 2-0 on the road.
Further down the division Port Vale beat Shrewsbury 2-1 at home and Rochdale won 3-1 away to a Morecambe side who have now conceded a mammoth 20 goals in their opening five games. The final two matches played this weekend both ending in draws as Accrington Stanley at home to Blackpoool and Macclesfield versus Stockport finished 1-1. As for Carlisle, well as the odd team in the table this week they had the weekend off, United though back in action next Saturday morning with a tough looking match away to Tranmere Rovers.
