It was League Cup action for teams in the north-west and north-east regions of the Youth Alliance League this weekend, but sadly for Carlisle they exited the competition at the first stage following a 1-1 draw, and subsequent 7-6 defeat on penalties, away to Bradford City, while elsewhere the big tie in the northern section saw a weakened Preston side crash out 6-1 at home to Burnley.
Next week it's back to league action for most sides in the division although County Cup and FA Youth Cup games always takes precedence over the league and that is why they are only six matches on. Carlisle themselves missing out on a scheduled fixture away to Blackpool to take on St Bees at 1pm at Brunton Park in the third round of the Cumberland Cup.
