A full weekend of fixtures last Saturday found everyone but odd ones out Oldham getting a game in, with Burnley moving into top spot in the table with a 2-0 win at home to Tranmere, while Preston dropped down to second place after losing 2-1 at home to Macclesfield. Walsall in third meanwhile have now gone through another fixture unbeaten, the Saddlers victorious 4-2 on their own soil against Bury, the game having been switched from the home of the Shakers.
Carlisle, still in fourth, come next with the Blues getting back to winning ways following two defeats in a row, United beating Wigan 3-0 at home with the goals scored by Mark Beck (2) and Dave Symington. Carlisle next weekend meanwhile having a Saturday off as their game at Bury is now two days later on the Monday afternoon in a 2pm kick-off against the Shakers.
Down into the mid-table reaches now and another game that was switched from its original venue was Rochdale 2-0 Port Vale, the Valiants losing that match on their own patch in the end. Wrexham did pick up a good three points though with a 4-1 win at Morecambe, while Shrewsbury were also victorious with a 3-1 success at Accrington Stanley. The final game played on Saturday ending in a rare success for Blackpool as the Seasiders defeated Stockport 1-0 at home.
