The big match in the division at the weekend saw Walsall's long, long unbeaten record this season go up in smoke as Burnley took a large step towards winning the title, the Clarets now four points clear at the top of the table after their 3-2 victory at Walsall. Preston the side chasing Burnley as North End remain in second following their 2-0 win at Port Vale.
Carlisle are still in fourth place in the table meanwhile after winning 2-1 at Wrexham on Friday lunchtime, the United goals scored by Mark Beck and David Symington. Elsewhere in the division both Bury and Shrewsbury got two games in this week as the teams drew 2-2 at the home of the Shakers on Tuesday, although that was their only point apiece earned as Bury then lost 1-0 at Wigan on Saturday, while Shrewsbury went down 3-0 at home to Rochdale. The only other match played at the weekend being down at the foot of the table as Morecambe defeated Accrington Stanley 3-1 at home.
