Youth Team League Weekend Update

Last updated : 10 September 2012 By Thetashkentterror

It's still tight at the top of the table after the weekend but Carlisle continue to lead the way on goal difference thanks to a 3-1 win at Morecambe, with the United goals coming from Connor Thomson, Kyle Dempsey and Jamie Clarey. Bury meanwhile remaining in second place after a 3-2 win at home to Preston today, the Shakers coming back from 2-0 down against the league champions to take all three points.

Completing the top three are Wrexham who were held 2-2 at home to draw specialists Walsall, while Shrewsbury stay in the top five despite going down 2-1 on Shropshire turf against Oldham. Another couple of 2-1 victories coming firstly at Accrington, who won at home to Fleetwood, while Rochdale also grabbed three points on their own patch, the 'Dale defeating current wooden spoon holders Tranmere Rovers.

There were twice as many goals at Macclesfield though as Port Vale picked up an excellent 4-2 win on the road, while the final game played saw Burnley surprisingly drop to a 3-1 defeat at home to perennial strugglers Blackpool. The Clarets, who often seem to have the Indian sign over Carlisle though, looking to turn their form round next Saturday morning when they take on United in an 11am kick-off at Creighton Rugby Club.
