With second-placed Bury out of action at the weekend United took the opportunity to move three points clear at the top of the table after defeating Burnley 2-1 at home thanks to goals from Alex Salmon and Kyle Dempsey. The young Blues also having a game on home turf next Saturday too in a slightly later kick-off time of 12noon at Creighton Rugby Club as they take on a fifth-placed Port Vale side who defeated Shrewsbury 2-1 at home at the weekend.
Walsall meanwhile are now up to third in the table after hammering rock bottom Tranmere 6-0 at home, while in fourth spot come Wrexham who picked up a point in a 1-1 draw at Rochdale, with Preston now making up the top six after they easily defeated Morecambe 4-1 at home. The final two games played on Saturday coming further down the table and seeing two away wins, with Fleetwood victorious 2-0 at Blackpool and Macclesfield taking all three points with a 1-0 success at Oldham.
