One player signed to go on the first year of a two-year YTS contract next summer. That being lanky 16-year old centre-forward Gary Madine from Gateshead who has impressed since first appearing as a trialist at home to Stockport way back in the middle of November.

Two players signed to go on the first year of a two-year YTS contract next summer. Central midfielder Michael Dowson, 15 and recently released by Middlesbrough, played in the home wins over Blackpool and Accrington earlier in the season and will stay with the Blues on schoolboy forms until the end of the current campaign and his YTS deal starts. Meanwhile Josh Newsham, also 15 and recently let go by Blackburn, is a right-winger/striker who played the last ten minutes against Blackpool on the 13th of January who will join the club next season.

One player signed to go on the first year of a two-year YTS contract next summer. 15-year old ex-Middlesbrough midfielder John Seaton joins the Cumbrians after reportedly turning down offers from Leicester City, Blackburn Rovers and Aston Villa in order to serve his apprenticeship at Brunton Park.

Four confirmed signings to go on the first year of a two-year YTS contract next summer, three of whom have come through the Centre of Excellence. Those being right-back Jonny Blake (younger brother of current second-year YTS left-back Matthew), goalkeeper Alex Mitchell and left-winger Connor Tinnion. Also snapped up for next year is attacking midfielder Simon Lakeland, who has been at the Centre of Excellence since October 2006 after leaving Preston North End.

Left back Matthew Duffy from Harrogate in North Yorkshire made his debut for Carlisle, after being released by Middlesbrough and Newcastle, in the 2-1 defeat at Preston on Saturday 3rd February 2007. Meanwhile Tom Aldred, from Bolton, is a centre half who has been let go by Blackburn after negotiating his own release, Aldred will join the club next season.

One player signed to go on the first year of a two-year YTS contract next summer. 16-year old centre forward Andrew Cook joins the club after starring for the Durham county side at schoolboy level. That completes the intake of ten first year-YTS players that will start the 2007-08 campaign at Brunton Park.
