Carlisle 4-1 Leyton Orient- Match Report

Cumbrians sweep past Orient

Carlisle made light work of disappointing Leyton Orient with a 4-1 win at Brunton Park.

The home side effectively put the game to bed with a three-goal salvo inside the first 36 minutes.

Francois Zoko set Carlisle on their way, scoring his sixth goal in six games inside a minute. Matty Robson added the second from a free-kick before Tom Taiwo made it 3-0.

James Berrett completed the scoring for the Cumbrians in the second half before Orient grabbed a late consolation through substitute Jamie Cureton.

Zoko got Carlisle off to a flying start when the Ivorian striker controlled a long ball from Frank Simek and twisted and turned in the box before slipping a low shot past keeper Lee Butcher and in off the left-hand post.

The home side's second goal came as a result of a free-kick on the right won by the livewire Zoko. Robson's low delivery did not carry much venom but it deceived everyone and skimmed into the far corner.

Taiwo added the third in the 36th minute with a dipping shot from the edge of the area.

Orient made it more of a contest after half-time but it was Berrett who increased Carlisle's lead in the 73rd minute, skipping round two defenders and leaving Butcher flat-footed with a cool finish.

With five minutes remaining, Cureton headed in Dean Cox's free-kick from the left but it was too little too late for Orient.
