Halifax 2 Carlisle United 2 Midfielder Steve Bushell drilled in the equalizer 3 minutes from time to earn Halifax a deserved point during a thrilling encounter at The Shay.

Bushell capitalised from close range when Carlisle keeper Matt Glennon dropped Matthew Doughty's right wing cross under pressure from Halifax striker Ryan Sugden.

The powerful effort levelled the scores at 2-2 and was the third goal in an amazing 5 minute spell that saw the visitors come from a goal down to lead the contest for a short period.

Halifax took the lead on 72 minutes when central defender Mark Monington headed in Dean Howell's left wing cross to register his 4th goal in 4 games.

Monington is now Halifax's top scorer and has scored the opening goal in each of the Shaymen's 3 games.

But Carlisle - whose team is littered with experienced former league veterans - looked to be on their way to a fine away win when 2 goals in 2 minutes turned the game on its head.

Striker Karl Hawley struck his 4th goal in 2 games and his 5th for the season so far on 83 minutes by deftly flicking in at the near post Bredan McGill's centre.

And soon after inspirational player - Coach Andy Preece blasted into the roof of the net from close range after Peter Murphy's cross was knocked down into his path by Hawley.

Earlier in the second half Halifax keeper Ian Dunbavin made 3 superb saves to deny Hawley, Brian Shelley and McGill as the visitors cranked up the pressure.

During the opening period the home side were totally on top for the first half hour when Sugden should have scored a hat trick but was denied on each occasion by fine saves from Glennon.

Halifax's momentum was, however, halted when defender Denny Ingram required treatment for an injury for several minutes adding the closing stages of the first half Carlisle dominated without really testing Dunbavin.
